Pudendal Neuralgia is a chronic, often debilitating condition that affects approximately 1% of the adult population, predominantly women. Characterized by discomfort and pain in the lower pelvic region or around the genitals, the symptoms of pudendal neuralgia often increase as the day goes on and may be worse when sitting. There are a wide range of causes for the condition, ranging from repetitive motion in sports to surgical trauma. For many, the symptoms come on slowly and it can sometimes be difficult to pinpoint a specific cause.

The symptoms of Pudendal Neuralgia are often related to the body’s inflammatory response to nerve trauma and can lead to nerve entrapment, also known as Alcock Canal Syndrome. The pressure, pain, and discomfort that patients experience are related to the inflamed tissue that is putting pressure on the pudendal nerve, which runs through the pelvic area and the perineum. Traditional treatment options range from physical therapy to pudendal nerve decompression surgery. In most cases, conventional treatment is not a cure and provides only a reduction in painful symptoms. Some patients have actually experienced an increase in daily pain as a result of the decompression surgery.

Cells And Pudendal Neuralgia

Our therapies have been widely successful in the treatment of inflammatory conditions, often providing results that are permanent and that provide an improved quality of life. The therapy targets damaged tissue at the cellular level, helping to permanently reduce inflammation and stimulating the regrowth of healthy cells in the affected areas. For patients struggling with daily pain and the common side effects from steroid-based medications that are commonly prescribed for this condition, this therapy can offer hope for a better future with less pain.

Using cells directly harvested from the patient’s own fat, the risk of side effects or reaction is minimized.

“My previous background as a pelvic surgeon has made me acutely aware of the significant disability that can occur with Pudendal Neuralgia. The Therapy used is unique as it can actually permanently restore normal blood vessels…which is essential for the repair process.” Dr. Todd Malan
